Monthly Updates from Webber-Camden Neighborhood Organization

Hello neighbors and friends!

I hope you are all having a great summer and finding some time to support our local businesses, cool off in the neighborhood pool, and pause for peaceful reflection along the Mississippi River.

A few things for you to mark on your calendar. First, the Webber-Camden Neighborhood Organization (WCNO) annual Neighborhood BBQ will be this Saturday, July 20th, from 4-7 PM at Webber Park. Enjoy great food, music, activities for the kids, and a chance to win tickets to a Twins game!

In addition to the usual food and fun, we will also be part of The Tour de Camden. Another summertime tradition is National Night Out, a block party held annually to build relationships among neighbors and other community agencies to promote safe neighborhoods. This year’s event will be August 6th from early afternoon to evening. Webber-Camden Neighborhood Organization provides support to block leaders who are coordinating events. For more information, click here.

One of my favorite things about summertime is seeing our youth program participants in action. Their positivity and creativity are making such a difference. If you see one of our youth, please greet them with a smile

In last month’s newsletter, we featured the Camden Collective, a food bank that helps hundreds of families weekly. Unfortunately, the organization has recently closed, and it’s not known when it will reopen. City officials are meeting with neighborhood organizations like ours and other groups to brainstorm some short-term solutions. This is a developing situation and we will share information as it becomes available.

For more information about our events, programs, and other neighborhood news, please stay tuned to our website and social media. And if you have some suggestions for what to feature in our future newsletters, please let us know! We would love to hear from you.
