Monthly Updates from Webber-Camden Neighborhood Organization

📢 Welcome

Dear Neighbors,

The end of the year is here, and what a year it’s been! As we reflect on 2024, I’m proud of the incredible work we’ve accomplished together— connecting neighbors, building community pride across Webber-Camden, and supporting our local businesses.

Here’s a few highlights from 2024…

  • Homeownership Support: WCNO helped strengthen homeownership through down payment assistance, revolving rehab loans, emergency grants, and senior deferred loans. In 2024, we provided 3 home improvement loans, 6 purchase assistance loans, and 1 senior deferred loan, totaling $76,328 in investments.

  • Business Growth: Small businesses benefited from façade improvement grants, covering up to $7,500 for qualified upgrades. In addition, we launched a video series to promote local small businesses and organizations. Watch the video.

  • Community Investments: WCNO secured over $323,000 in grants for youth violence prevention, neighborhood programs, business development, and safety initiatives.

  • Youth Engagement: Programs like Healing Circles at Olson Middle and Camden High Schools, Neighborhood Navigators, and the Summer Youth Program engaged more than 400 young people. These efforts fostered leadership, personal development, and community involvement.

  • Events & Partnerships: From the Annual WCNO BBQ to National Night Out and the May Pop Out, our events brought neighbors together. Collaborations with partners like the Camden Lions, Unity Scrubs, and Minneapolis Public Schools amplified these efforts.

We’re excited to share that WCNO has a new home! This move symbolizes growth, opportunity, and a fresh start for 2025. We invite you to celebrate with us at our upcoming Open House in January—mark your calendars and join your neighbors, local leaders, and businesses as we look toward what’s ahead.

Happy holidays to you and your loved ones. Thank you for being part of Webber-Camden’s journey. Here’s to a new year filled with connection, growth, and community!

With gratitude,

Patricia Deinhart-Bauknight

Executive Director, WCNO

Business Feature:

📍The Get Down Coffee Co.

The Get Down Coffee Co. is more than a coffee shop—it’s a movement. Led by Houston White, this Black-owned coffee company roasts and brews coffee while fostering connection and opportunity right here in North Minneapolis.

Located within the vibrant Houston White HQ at 1500 N. 44th Avenue, The Get Down is about “good music, good coffee, and cultural collision.” With a roasting facility in Northeast Minneapolis and deep roots in the community, it’s a space for everyone to gather, connect, and celebrate local culture.
